Relief from Red Star to the City of Determination

A large area of the Tissa Pradeshiya Sabha was also submerged with the floods which affected various parts of the island recently.



The working force of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, ‘Red Star’ came forward in assistance within the Tissa Pradeshiya Sabha.



The photographs here depict some activities of the ‘Red Star’ movement lead by JVP leader Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe.



Red Star movement helped to repair the culverts, roads and places damaged with the floods in the area for a whole week.



Around 1000 members of the Red Star participated in these activities.



Hambantota District Parliamentarian Comrade Nihal Galappatti, Chairman of the Tissa Pradeshiya Sabha Comrade H L jayasiri and other JVP members of the Pradeshiya Sabha also participated in this campaign.

Relief from Red Star for the displaced in Wakarei

“Red Star” the relief services force of the JVP has taken measures to distribute essential commodities among the displaced housed in Valachchena area following the Tiger terrorist attacks. Goods to the value of one million rupees have thus been distributed.

The displaced sheltered in Vinayagapuram school in Valachchena, Pentecosta hall and Siththandi etc were the recipients of this relief aid.

JVP MP’s Comrades K.D. Lal Kantha, S.K. Subasinghe and Ramalingam Chandrasekar visiting the camps for the displaced and looking into the problems faced by them was specially noteworthy.

The inmates of these camps have told the MP’s that they were not willing to live in these camps. They also said that wanted to resettle in their native places as early as possible and requested the responsible authorities to fake steps to ensure that their villages are safe from terrorists threats.

MP Comrade Lal Kantha has told the media that these people wanted to start fishing as early as possible.

Red Star relief for displaced from tiger attacks

“Red Star”, the relief services brigade of the JVP has taken measures to provide relief for those who were displaced due to tiger attacks on Wakare, Serunuwara and Kadiraweli areas in the Eastern Province .

A fleet o lorries carrying essential items left JVP head office at Battaramulla yesterday evening. JVP Leader Comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe and several Parliamentarians of the party were present.

The goods would be distributed among the displaced at Walachchena and Serunuwara today said Comrade Amarasinghe to the media.
